KBM Realty’s Bonita Harrison Honored at 2026 Heroines of Housing Luncheon

In celebration of Women’s History Month, KBM Realty proudly recognizes its Owner and Managing Broker, Bonita Harrison, for being awarded the Women in Community Leadership Recognition Award by the Oak Park Regional Housing Center.

The honor was presented during the Fifth Annual Heroines of Housing Luncheon on March 13, 2026, an event widely recognized for celebrating women leaders advancing equitable housing and community development.

The Oak Park Regional Housing Center  is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting fair housing, preventing discrimination, and supporting inclusive communities throughout the Chicago region. Through its programs and partnerships, the organization has played a key role in expanding access to housing and strengthening neighborhoods.

Harrison’s recognition highlights the growing impact of women leaders transforming housing development in Chicago and underscores the importance of advancing equitable and inclusive communities through intentional investment and development.

Reflecting on her work, Harrison shared:

“Ownership creates leverage. Ownership creates opportunities. And ownership creates legacy. When I build homes or develop projects today, I think beyond the structure itself. I think about the families who will live there, the businesses that will grow from those opportunities, and the generational wealth that can come from owning a piece of a community. Development is not just construction; it is empowerment.”

Harrison continues to lead initiatives that expand access to housing and support long-term community growth. She is currently developing projects across key Chicago neighborhoods, including Bronzeville, North Lawndale, and Garfield Park. These developments will deliver 46 mixed-use residential buildings totaling 168 units, with a combined development value exceeding $61 million.

In addition to her development work, Harrison is committed to mentoring the next generation of real estate and housing professionals. She actively participates in panel discussions and engages with graduate students studying urban planning, public policy, and real estate at leading universities across the United States.

Through her leadership, Harrison continues to drive meaningful impact; strengthening communities, expanding opportunities, and shaping the future of housing development in Chicago.
